The Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN) believes that microcredential courses are a new and innovative way of dealing with the real need to upskill Australians for jobs of the future.
The Federal Government has announced that it will commit $18.5M to support the design and delivery of 28 microcredential courses.
ATN Executive Director, Luke Sheehy, said the short courses are key to meeting Australia’s skills shortfall.
“We are pleased the Albanese Government has identified the need to upskill people across areas such as engineering, IT and cyber security,” Mr Sheehy said.
“These short and focused microcredential courses will have students ready to take on jobs for industries which are in desperate need now – but they will also have people skilled in jobs of the future.”
The following ATN Universities members are included in the microcredentials program:
- Curtin University (Engineering – Net Zero Engineering Fundamentals)
- Curtin University (Information Technology – Infonet Security)
- RMIT University (Information Technology – Cyber Security Foundations for Business Professionals)
- University of South Australia (Information Technology – IT and Cloud Fundamentals)
- University of Technology Sydney (Engineering – Building Information Modelling)
