The Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN) congratulates The Australian Labor Party on their victory at the federal election and wishes Anthony Albanese every success as he resumes his role as Australia’s 31st Prime Minister, and the first Prime Minister to be re-elected since 2004.
ATN looks forward to continuing our constructive relationship with the Government, as we have done successfully with previous administrations. As Australia’s leading industry-engaged university group, ATN is committed to working together to prepare all Australians for the jobs of tomorrow, deliver research and innovation that solves real-world problems, and strengthen the impact of Australian ideas and institutions overseas.
We are committed to collaborating on key priorities, including expanding real-world learning opportunities for the diversity of our students, increasing alignment between universities, industry and national priorities as well as embracing new opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region.
ATN Chair and The University of Newcastle Vice-Chancellor Professor Alex Zelinsky AO welcomed the result of the election and highlighted the strong relationship between ATN and the Federal Government that has flourished for over 25 years.
“ATN has maintained a trusted and valuable relationship with both major parties, and we look forward to continuing to work together to shape the university sector, and to make higher education accessible, and a valuable asset for industry to future-proof Australia’s prosperity”, he said.
