ATN Universities in partnership with Deakin University and the University of Newcastle are proud to launch Our Research, a new publication showcasing how our collaborative research has a real and tangible impact on economic growth, helps create jobs, and improves our society.
This new publication highlights how our research has immense value and benefit – including improving health, food security, exploring new frontiers in space, and advancing our use of resources and technology. It also focuses on issues to do with everyday life including road safety, justice reform, mental health, and disaster recovery.
University research, particularly that undertaken in partnership with industry and community partners, is a key tool in navigating our way through the challenges we face, particularly the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 24 case studies released as part of this new publication are merely a tiny example of the depth and breadth of our world-class discovery and applied research undertaken across our six universities.
ATN, Deakin University and the University of Newcastle researchers work hard every day to provide practical solutions and these four projects from each of our universities are showcased in this new publication, including:
Examples outlined in Our Research include:
- Curtin University’s AROSE Program – supporting Australia’s competitive position in the space industry.
- RMIT University’s Innovative Justice initiative – preventing family violence and supporting those going through it.
- The University of South Australia’s FireFlight – a mapping technology tool to speed up bushfire recovery efforts.
- The University of Technology Sydney’s Safeguarding Seafood – protecting Australia’s seafood industry from marine microbe threats.
- Deakin University’s FormFlow – an innovative cladding for housing in bushfire-prone areas.
- The University of Newcastle’s Printed Solar Cells – a new direction in solar energy technology
