Welcome to Dr Janet Yeo

ATN is growing!

We are pleased to announce that we have welcomed a new team member, Dr Janet Yeo, as Policy Director. This is a critical senior leadership role within ATN’s ranks and we are gaining an experienced person bringing great value to the position based in our Melbourne head office.

Janet brings an innovative mind to our team which will help solve the policy and research problems of today, aligning perfectly with ATN’s values. Her core goal is to identify problems in the higher education sector, and develop solutions which can lead to long-term positive impacts. She is excited to be joining a group of universities that are focused and world-class in their applied approach, fixing the problems of today and finding the solutions to tomorrow’s biggest challenges.

Janet arrived in Australia as an undergraduate international student, before going on to complete a PhD in biochemistry. Post-PhD, Janet has worked in roles that interface between research, industry and academia. Her experience provides her with a unique perspective on universities, across research, education and professional services. Through her various roles, she discovered her knack for seeing the bigger picture and developing long-term strategy.

In her most recent role as Senior Business Development Manager at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI), she covered a breadth of portfolios, working on the development of strategic plans and policies as well as the commercialisation of projects ranging from cancer to rare diseases and neurological disorders. Having always been interested in policy and strategy development, Janet is excited to work with ATN members to focus on policy and drive change in a sector with many moving parts.

Her worldliness doesn’t stop at work, in her spare time she loves to travel and has been to more than 40 countries – most recently Portugal!

We are thrilled to have Janet on board and are already enjoying the wealth of knowledge she brings to role.
