The Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN Universities) is pleased to support new legislation to assist students and young people by reducing student loans by 20%.
ATN supports reforms that recognise the financial challenges students face and seeks to make universities more accessible to more students.
ATN have been a long-time supporter for equity, inclusion and opportunity in higher education. This legislation is a welcome move to recognise and address rising cost of living and the financial pressure placed upon students, particularly those from low socio-economic backgrounds or those experiencing hardship.
As a peak body educating 20% of Australian students from low SES backgrounds and one in four students living with a disability, ATN supports this move and urges the government to continue progressing with reforms to funding models that can allow for greater skill improvements and further advance Australia’s productivity growth.
We look forward to continuing to work alongside the Government to create a fairer, more financially equitable education focused on lifelong learning, meeting workforce needs, and lifting Australia’s national productivity.
