ATN universities welcome the recognition by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) of both Sinovac and Covishield as recognised vaccines for international travellers entering Australia.

This vital step gives students who have taken the responsible steps to get vaccinated the certainty that they are able to enter Australia once restrictions are lifted.

Today’s announcement is an important demonstration that Australia has a firm commitment to the return of international visitors and the future of international education.

ATN universities have worked to support State and Federal efforts for the return of international students in line with the national plan for reopening Australia. Since the start of the pandemic, ATN universities have supported all our students, both domestic and international, and it will be wonderful when they can reunite on our campuses and recommence their studies.

Many young people across our region and the globe choose Australia as their destination to embark on their post-secondary learning journey. These students bridge cultures and countries, enrich our experience through cultural exchange, deepen our understanding of our Indo-Pacific neighbours and their rich history, and contribute to the university teaching and learning experience of all students.

Many of these students have already commenced their study with our universities and look forward to completing it with their fellow classmates. There are also many more international students considering where to study. ATN together with The University of Newcastle teach nearly 100,000 international students and we look forward to welcoming them back to Australia as soon as possible.
