The Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN Universities) and the Republic of the Philippines Commission for Higher Education signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today at ATN Universities International Education Summit.

The MoU will underpin greater cooperation between ATN Universities and the Philippines on increasing research collaboration, boost the number of PhD students, encourage development of dual degree programs and deepen our collaboration on teaching and learning.

ATN member universities have deep and enduring partnerships in ASEAN nations. These partnerships build on the long history of bilateral cooperation between Australia and the Philippines.

In recent years, Australia and the Philippines have focused on growing people to people links through trade, investment, cultural exchange, education, tourism and migration.

ATN universities have long encouraged students to undertake learning abroad experiences in ASEAN countries, particularly the Philippines. These efforts have been successful, especially in encouraging students to participate in New Colombo Plan programs throughout the region.

The Philippines is becoming increasingly important for Australia’s international education sector. ATN recognised the importance of the Philippines in the ATN Global Engagement Plan.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ATN are today signing with the Philippines Commission for Higher Education encourages collaboration in research and research training, student and staff mobility, dual degree programs and transnational education.
