ATN Universities Essay Competition
ATN Universities invites students of all disciplines to explore themes of the human experience in written essay format, responding to the prompt: what does it mean to remain human amid rapid technological, social, and institutional transformation?
This competition aims to encourage students from Australian Technology Network (ATN) member universities to engage in critical reflection on the relationship between technology and society in an increasingly AI-enabled world.

How do you stay human in an AI-enabled world?
In an era of increasing reliance on technology and artificial intelligence, ATN Universities is encouraging students from across our member universities – Curtin University, Deakin University, RMIT University, The University of Newcastle and The University of Technology Sydney – to submit a written essay exploring humanity in the digital age.
Eligibility
- Must be a current student at an ATN member university (Curtin University, Deakin University, RMIT University, The University of Newcastle, Swinburne University of Technology or University of Technology Sydney)
- Australian-based student
- Open to all students of ATN’s member universities. All skill levels. All disciplines.
- 750-word limit
Prizes
- 1st place: $2,000
- 2nd place: $750
- 3rd place: $250
A winner will be selected by a panel of expert judges, and will be announced by ATN Universities in June.
