Student business services

In each ATN University, the role of the Student Business Services or equivalent unit is to manage academic policy and coordinate University-wide student administration activities from admission to graduation. They provide information and analysis on a wide range of issues related to academic and student administration, including legislative requirements and national and international trends. The ATN Student Business Services working group exchanges information in order to understand the business operations of each of the five ATN universities – structures, processes, systems – related to student administration and works collaboratively to improve services.

The objectives of the student business services group include:

to exchange information and compare the student administration operations of each of the ATN universities with a view to assisting with business process improvement and service developments
to assist members with implementation of government policy, systems and requirements
to collaborate on initiatives to improve student business services across the ATN

Project

The following activities will be undertaken in order to start a benchmarking exercise of approximately 6 key student administration functions/processes:

Information exchange on organisational structures, systems, processes including background information about each institution
McKinnon benchmarking definitions to be circulated relating to student administration
Benchmarking data to be collated on a range of student administration functions commencing with online services, graduations and examination processes
