Engineering Tomorrow’s Engineers is a holistic project aimed at reinvigorating the engineering profession as a potential career path and its profile in the community. The project’s goal is to deliver a solution to the current shortage of engineers and recruit more school leavers with the necessary aptitudes to be tomorrow’s engineers. This will be achieved through a targeted national marketing campaign plus a new University entry test for prospective engineers across five States. ATN universities will also endeavour to tailor their courses to deliver the work-ready engineers industry requires and is demanding – those with people and writing skills, project management and financial skills valued as much as the base maths and science of old.
ATN Engineering Selection Test
The ATN, which produces 26% of Australia’s engineering graduates, will trial an entry test that will seek out those potential students with the aptitudes to be the engineers of tomorrow.
School students, mature age students, and international students who may not have the traditional year 12 maths and science background have this new opportunity to see if they can be the engineers of the future – engineers with excellent problem solving skills, project management skills, interpersonal and communication skills.
