Clare Burton Memorial Scholarship

2006, for the first time since its inception, the ATN awarded two Clare Burton Memorial Scholarships providing further funds to support post-graduate research into gender equity.

2006 recipient, Phoebe Hart, used her scholarship to produce a documentary exploring the experiences of people with Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (AIS) an inter-sex condition where the reproductive organs are at variance with the genetic sex of the child.

2006 recipient, Alice Stoakes, researched and measured the impact of separation, divorce and widowhood on the labour and housing markets with a particular focus on women-headed households.

2004 recipient, Robyn North, examined how social policy can influence gender equality in heterosexual relationships and/or further support existing gender inequalities in heterosexual relationships.

2002 recipient, Sarah Wendt, completed a PhD exploring the impact of rural culture on women's experience, and men's perpetration, of domestic violence.
