of this recognition of her abilities, and her contributions to the network's research agenda and activities will be missed.

This appointment is the next step in a highly successful career for Professor Kristjanson, in which she has received more than $30 million in competitive research grants and published more than 200 refereed journal articles and chapters, as well as currently being a non-executive Director of the Australian Synchrotron and Chair of AuScope Ltd; a Deputy Chair of the Chemistry Centre of Western Australia Board; as well as serving on a number of national Cooperative Research Centre Boards, including the Australian Biosecurity CRC.

We are sure that she will make a major contribution to Swinburne University of Technology as it moves into its next stage of development.

With this appointment, Professor Kristjanson continues what has become a trend for senior ATN staff, with five of the seven most recently appointed vice chancellors in Australia originating from ATN universities. Her appointment also speaks well of the quality of the ATN’s senior women, with five of the nine serving or recently appointed female vice chancellors likewise coming from ATN universities.
