Mission

In Australia, traditional PhD by research has produced graduates of exceptional but highly discrete technical knowledge, predominately suited to careers in the academic environment.

At the same time there is an acknowledged industry skills shortage in mathematical & statistical sciences, and growing needs for R&D.

The ATN IDTCs will bridge intellectual and leadership potential with Australian industry needs by:

• Addressing the skills shortage in mathematical & statistical sciences;

• Producing highly skilled analytical researchers that can tackle today�s complex R&D needs across a broad range of industries;

• Increasing the competitiveness of Australian industry; and

• Increasing the number of students participating and achieving in doctoral level mathematical & statistical research.
