ATN Research Challenge

The primary objective of the ATN Research Challenge is to support research in common areas, and emphasise multi-disciplinary partnerships across the ATN. These partnerships will build research capacity and concentration to enable ATN universities to compete nationally and internationally in areas of shared research expertise.

The closing date for initial Expressions of Interest for the ATN Research Challenge was 30th September, 2004. Assessment of the EoIs was undertaken by a selection committee of the five Pro Vice-Chancellors (Research) from the ATN universities.

In what was a highly competitive process, the ATN received more than 25 applications from across a wide range of disciplines within the network. The shortlisting team, which comprised the ATN P/DVCs (Research), was impressed by the quality of bids, and encourages all applicants to maintain and further develop the linkages they have made as a result of this process.

The winner of the ATN Research Challenge was the project establishing an "ATN Centre for Metabolic Fitness", announced at the 2005 ATN Conference. You may view the media release here.
