The Nutrition Society of Australia identifies and acknowledges individuals with suitable qualifications at higher education level in the nutritional sciences.
This scheme has been developed by an NSA team led by Professor Neil Mann from RMIT University. Professor Mann chairs the NSA Registration Committee which meets quarterly to evaluate applications.
It has now recognised over 100 people as nutritionists in four distinct registration categories.
These are:
Associate Nutritionist: for recent graduates of nutrition-related degrees
Registered Nutritionist: for graduates of nutrition-related degrees with at least three years experience or higher research degrees in nutrition
Registered Public Health Nutritionist: for those with specialised training in PHN
Registered animal Nutritionist: for those NSA members with specialised training in animal nutrition.
Successful applicants receive a certificate valid for three years. This must be updated via on-going professional development every three years.
Successful applicants are listed on the NSA web site www.nsa.asn.au under Registered Nutritionists. All details regarding application are available on the web site.
