The Centre for Metabolic Fitness was established in 2005 by five of Australia's leading research intensive Universities which form the Australian Technology Network to:
provide unrivalled research capacity in a 'one shop' context through internationally recognised research strengths in fundamental biological sciences, clinical research, public health sciences and health promotion activities.
provide novel research training opportunities in a culturally unique and rewarding environment.
provide independent and unbiased advice on how to reduce environmental risk factors for chronic diseases.
The Centre for Metabolic Fitness also provides international leadership in contemporary health policy and services development.
Pivotal to the philosophies of the Australian Technology Network group of Universities is a commitment to improve all aspects of the global community. In this context, the Centre for Metabolic Fitness was created to bring together complementary and synergistic research strengths, with the aim of enhancing human health and wellbeing.
The Centre for Metabolic Fitness is principally a community resource. The five partner universities supporting it are:
- Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology
- Curtin University of Technology
- University of South Australia
- Queensland University of Technology
- University of Technology Sydney
