Ph.D. (Monash University)
Dr. Gupta has established his career as a researcher and has made an outstanding contribution to the research of extensional rheology of polymer solutions while working towards his Ph.D. degree at Monash University in 1999. He contributed towards developing the world’s first ‘extensional Rheometer’ for dilute polymer solutions. He is actively seeking and studying polymer industry problems at present.
As part of the research team at RMIT with Professor Bhattacharya, he has been involved with collaborative work with the CRC-P, CSIRO and Industry on development of a rural pipe product for low-pressure application with virgin & recycled material and on development of high melt strength PET for blow moulding application . Dr. Gupta is working on extensional rheology of polymer melts & nanocomposites in an international collaboration with McGill University, Canada and Inha University, Korea for development of nanocomposites for commercial use. Recently, he has shown that extensional and shear rheology is related to the structure change and clay particle dispersion.
Dr. Gupta is presently involved in co-supervision of two PhD students in the field of melt rheology at RMIT University. He was successful in obtaining two ARC Linkage grant application in 2005 and 2007 respectively. Both projects involved Australian industry.
